Red Lion Handcross

Had such a lovely dinner with a friend- for a birthday meal (Tip- sign up to the Red Lion’s newsletter and they’ll send you deals! Our was BOGOF dinner!!!). Our orders were taken and dinner served by Reece under the watchful eye of Manager, Andy. It was Reece’s first shift… and you know what? He was superb. He’s such a lovely, enthusiastic young man, he’s going to be another superb addition to the team. Cocktails were superb too!! 🍸

Stopped in for lunch and a pudding, food was amazing (we had the messy burger and the steak sandwich) both came with beef dripping sauce. Best burger I've had in a while, cut it into quarters to eat it slower 🤭🤭. Had the sticky toffee pudding and the raspberry white chocolate pavlova which were divine. Definitely coming back again. Atmosphere was good, classy gastro pub Tudor vibes, chilled, didn't feel cramped nor spacious.

Was seated nicely according to size of family, welcomed with smiles especially Andy ! Was really attentive and never had to wait and entertained little one with his time …thanks Andy and to the other staff too !! food was to die for and all really hot and good portions we had a great evening out,we will be back again for sure ! Lucy and family !! Xx

We were welcomed by the staff and shown straight to our table in the restaurant. Service for drinks and food was pretty quick. The food (we all had different roasts) was outstanding and puddings were very nice too albeit a bit on the small side. We were not rushed either to leave once we’d finished which was nice. Thanks to Andy and the team, we will see you again soon.

Lovely food and good selection of choice on menu. Two mains two starters two pre starters.and two drinks 55 quid so to be fair reasonable. Nice service and attentive, feeling of genuine interest in wanting you to enjoy the experience and the food. Only downside is remembering to put your registration in for parking. Not a huge issue as plenty of signs around the car park and reminders as you come in but a bit daunting. Surprised there isnt free parking for a few hours and if longer then having to enter details as with other pubs locations. Just creates that little bit of anxiety.

Nice environment and food quality. We ordered bread and olives to start and it never showed up. The person who took our order (Andy) could be heard answering the colleague who raised this with him say ‘they didn’t order it, it’s not on my screen order’. I can attest to the fact we definitely did order it. We booked as I’d received an email offering ‘50% off main courses until 19 January’. When we went to pay, the QR code didn’t work. The same person who took our order (Andy), said ‘it says in the terms and conditions from 8 January’. We were surprised this pertinent piece of information was not on the main part of the email, only in the Ts & Cs. I’m not certain people readily read Ts & Cs. Your team member (called Andy) did not apologise and seemed to have an attitude of ‘well you should read the terms’. I accept the info was buried there. I do not accept such a blaming and negative response from your team. All of the other team members we spoke with were exceptionally polite. This has rather put us off coming back.
